Product Rave: Kate High Coverage Pressed Powder UV and Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Facial Wash

Hi lovelies, I met up with a close friend, L today and we went beauty shopping from Watsons Ion Orchard to Watsons Ngee Ann City and every other possible places that sells beauty or makeup products like Etude House, The Face Shop etc. She reads my blog and was interested in getting Kate High Coverage pressed powder UV that I mentioned in one of my blog post. Watsons Ion didn't have her shade which is the lighter among the two hence we went over to Watsons Ngee Ann City. She got so excited and tried out most of Kate products and even asked me which products are good because she recalled reading my post on the Kate Blogger Event that I attended earlier in April. We also went over to Swarovski to swatch Crystal Touch Silver Shimmer which Z had told me about how impressed she was with the product. It is really sparkly and pretty when the light hits on it. It reminds me very much of my Jill Stuart Jelly Eye Color.

I just love how I could talk about almost everything under the sun with L. From school, work, life and makeup. She's hooked on YouTube makeup/beauty tutorials like I am and we could totally relate to each other because we know/watch/read the same YouTube gurus and beauty bloggers.

L's Watsons haul consists of Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Facial Wash and Kate High Coverage pressed powder UV.

I thought that I would share about this product, Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Facial Wash that is highly-raved by L since it would be nice to get inputs from others apartf from me from time to time.

As this is a back-up and repurchase, it shows how much she loves it. For me, I would only repurchase a product if I really like it a lot. Even so, I might not repurchase it if other brands catches my attention during the point of purchase. Hence, I think that Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Facial Wash should be really good because L got it without much hesistation. She even told me right from the beginning that she needs to go to Watsons to pick up her cleanser and told me which specifically.

Like me, L has combination skin with oily T-zone. She has got amazing skin and her complexion is really good I must say. When I asked her which is better - Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Facial Wash or Hada Labo AHA/BHA Exfoliating Face Wash. Having tried both, she told me that she prefers the former.

Both of us love sharing beauty tips, YouTube channels and beauty blogs that we find interesting with each other. I must say that we play an important role in influencing each other's purchase decision. This is evident because she got the Kate High Coverage pressed powder UV and she made me so tempted to get Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Facial Wash which I can't at the moment because I still have a few brand-new and unopened cleansers to finish. I will definitely try it once I have finish my other cleansers.

On 5 April, I attended Kate Blogger Event over at Fuze@283.

I must say that I was very excited when I received the invitation because I do own a couple of Kate products and I must say that I love them all! Contrary to popular belief, Kate has been around in Singapore for quite some time instead of late last year. I have been getting my Kate products previously from either OG or BHG. Now that they are readily available in Watsons, it gives me more reason to spend on pretty Kate makeup products!

The MC of the day is Holly from MTV VJ. She's really tall and lanky, pretty as well! The event started off with the Kao in-charge whom shared with us some insights on how well Kate is doing in both Japan and Singapore. Next, the main highlight of the day - makeup demostration by makeup artist, Mr Mikiya Hirai whom specially flew in for the event.

As the model already had some makeup on, he blotted her face with a piece of tissue to blot away the excess sebum.

He first applied Kate Lasting High Coverage Powder Foundation on her face.

Next, he proceeded to fill in her brows with Kate Designing Eyebrow. He then mixed both the colors on Kate Eye Shadow DB (Dual-Blended) together and applied it on her eyes before using the darker eye shadow shade to line her eyes. Personally, I prefer using eye shadow to line my eyes because it gives a more gentle and soft look comapred to eye liner which looks more defined but at the same time, it can be a little harsh-looking. He also highlighted her brow bone with the lighter shade of eyeshadow. Next, he used the Kate Super Sharp Liner to line her eyes and applied Kate Volume Mascara FR.

He used a darker shade of Kate Full Coverage Pressed Powder UV to contour the model's face. This gives out a more natural look compared to using bronzers or contour powders. Next, he applied blush using Kate Cheek Color S. Following which, he highlighted her face using a lighter shade of powder foundation which gives a more natural look compared to using highlighters which normally comes with glitters/shimmers.

For the lips, he applied Kate Rouge EX and Kate Liquid Rouge N. He also applied powder along the model's lower lip line to define it and highlight her cupid's bow with the lighter shade of Kate Eye Shadow DB.

Here is a close-up shot of the model. She's already pretty to begin with and even prettier with the makeup on. (:

They even had customized cupcakes with Kate signature colors, black and red and Kate's Logo on it. So pretty, ain't it?

We were given some time to doll ourselves up with Kate makeup before our photo shoot. There were so much makeup that I didn't know where to begin with!

Check this out. Kate Eyeshadow DB which is really easy to blend. Great for beginners I would say!

Here is what I came up with! My face of the day (FOTD).

I am really liking my thick eyebrows which I drew that day and Mr Hirai helped me with it.

Products used:

1) Kate brown collection (to fill in my brows)
2) Kate Cheek Color S (lighter color for highlighting)
3) Kate Lasting High Coverage Powder Foundation (for touch-up)
4) Kate Eyeshadow DB (Mix 4a and 4b for entire lid, 4b for lining the eyes and 4a for highlighting brow bone)

I have also applied 4a on the middle of my eyelid to make my eyes look brighter and larger.

2) Kate My Color Pencil N in BR-1 (for waterline)

I can't express how much I love Kate Volume Mascara FR. It curls, it gives me that volume and especially, LENGTH! You know how short my asian lashes are and so far, this is the only mascara that lengthens my lashes that much without using fibre or primer! Am so gonna grab one the next time I head to Watsons.

When the going gets tough, the tough goes shopping!

Hi lovelies, I apologise for the lack of updates. I have been pretty occupied with a couple of things lately and as much as I would to blog, I didn't have the time or energy to.

With that aside, I wanted to alleviate myself from the stress that I have been handling these days so I decided to go shopping! What do you girls do when you are stressed? For me, I go shopping! Impulse shopping always makes me happy. It doesn't have to be an expensive item, but so as long as I spend money, I feel instant gratification.

So I decided to drop by Watsons, where I get most of my beauty and skincare items from.

And I saw Kate Lasting High Coverage Powder Foundation with limited edition pact case selling at only $34! I like the case, its black and it looks so sophisticated!

Of course, I swatched it and OC-D matched my skintone better. I like how Kate's foundation mostly come in 2 colors so that I don't have to try out all one by one to see which one matches me. Oh, before I forget, the correct way of choosing your foundation shade is to test it out on your jawline, in between your face and neck so that your face and neck won't look like they are of two colors.

You know, I felt so tempted to get it since my current Kate High Coverage pressed powder UV has hit pan. And so far, the Kate products that I have gotten haven't disappointed me.

For those of you whom have been asking which pressed powder am I been using, it is Kate High Coverage pressed powder UV as shown below.

I like how this product can make me achieve a flawless finish. Usually, I would apply sunblock, BB cream followed by Kate High Coverage pressed powder. The best way to use it is to turn the powder puff that is included in a circular motion, from the left to the right, followed by right to the left so that you would get an even amount of product on your powder puff. Remember to dab the powder onto your face part by part and not glide the powder puff across your face. If you were to do the latter, it would result in your face appearing cakey.

I also spotted Ezee Power Twister Mascara in Watsons. Guess who's the ambassador? Its Dawn Yang!

I felt so tempted to get it but its priced at $39.90! I know its a rotating mascara, but still it doesn't justify the amount that I have to pay for it because I can get the Dior Diorshow Extase Mascara by just topping up a few more dollars. I don't know about you girls, but I don't think spending money on mascaras is justifiable because they tend to dry easily and most of the time, they don't do what they claim. You probably have to buy say 5 mascaras before you actually find one that does work for you.

Don't get me wrong, I do love buying mascaras but its just that I wouldn't pay more than $25 for a tube of mascara. And I need to make a confession - I don't own any vibrating or rotating mascaras and I have no idea how good they are. But I am really interested to find out if they are really that good, or if they are better than normal mascaras so please share with me if you have tried them before and tell me when you think of them okay? Will appreciate it loads!

And so I walked out of Watsons empty handed. Can you believe it? I don't know but recently there aren't much products that appeal to me. Marketers ought to work harder to make me spend money!

Like I said, I ~~wanted~~ needed to buy something so I headed to Fairprice Finest. I like going to Fairprice Finest because they carry a lot of different products, like a one-stop shopping experience! And the best thing is - they have a whole section devote to makeup and toiletries.

I was checking out the makeup and skincare section and there was this promoter whom couldn't stop trying to sell me her company's products. She was like, "Hey little girl, come try our facial scrub. Its really effective. Do you own a scrub?" I was like, "Yes, I have it at home". I think I have at least 3 different facial scrubs, lol. She didn't stop at that, she tried to sell me sunblock lotion. And when I told her I have it at home too, she tried to sell me cleansing wipes. Haha. I think she could have go on and on forever. It is both good and bad to have an aggressive promoter like her as she can really push the products, the only bad thing is that she would probably scare customers off as some customers are likely to see her as being 'pushy'.

I don't know about you but I love checking the tea section out whenever I go to supermarkets. I love tea. In fact all kinds of tea. Its really to the extent whereby you name it, I drink it. My personal favourites includes Japanese Green Tea, Oolong Tea, Earl Grey Tea and English Breakfast Tea.

While checking out the different tea packs on the shelves, Lipton Russian Earl Grey Black Tea captured my attention.

I have never seen this range of Lipton tea prior to this. Could it be a new range? The packaging kind of drew my attention because it looks so sophisticated!

Just wondering, how do you girls store your tea if you were to bring them out?

To start it off, I always store my tea in my bottle as shown below so that I can drink it on the go.

I had a sudden craving for chocolates (I don't normally eat chocolates, even if I do, I like dark chocolates) hence I went to the snacks aisle. The first thing that I saw was -

Hershey's Special Dark Pure Chocolate 65% Cacao and I grabbed it immediately. Why? Because it has a sliding box which I like and it says that its only 10 calories per piece. I tend to gravitate towards products that states how much calories it contains. Reason being - at least I won't feel so sinful after eating it!

The last aisle that I went to was - Baby products. You know what? I attracted so many stares from other shoppers. The looks from their face are rather amusing because they looked so confused as to why I am there. Anyway, all I wanted is to get Pigeon baby compact powder.

I read somewhere that Jacelyn Tay uses this compact powder on her face and we all know how flawless her skin looks so I decided to give it a try. I think that since its meant for babies, it shouldn't contain any ingredients that would make me breakout. Its really affordable, its only like $7.50? When I first opened the compact, I got so disappointed because it looked like its too light for me. But when I swatched on the back of my palm, it blends in so well.

I haven't tried it on my face yet so I am not sure of the staying power and if it would cause breakouts. I promise I will write a comprehensive review of it once I have tried it out.
