Dupe for Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in Mademoiselle
Wednesday, May 11, 2011Hi lovelies, I'm finally back (technically). Why am I saying so? Well, apparently the past few posts were postdated. The worst is finally over and I am so glad because that implies that I have more time to blog!
I was surfing the net randomly the other day when I read in one of the makeup forums saying that NYX Tea Rose is a dupe for Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in Mademoiselle. To reaffirm it, I swatched the both of them and realised that NYX Tea Rose is not really what I would consider as a dupe for Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in Mademoiselle. Not wanting to let things remain as such, I continued to swatch my other lipsticks until I got one that is closest to Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in Mademoiselle - NYX Round Lipstick in B52.
I thought that I would include some background information on these lipsticks for you girls to have a better and clearer idea.
Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick
CHANEL introduces a modern interpretation of classic creme lip colour as an homage to the rich life and legacy of 'Coco' Chanel. New lightweight lip colour glides on for easy application, and features a Hydratendre complex to help soften, soothe and condition lips - even boosting their ability to hold in moisture - for a plumper, smoother and healthier-looking appearance. A range of wearable shades with full-coverage finishes, from matte to pearl to soft shimmer.
NYX Round Lipstick
NYX Round Lipstick is smooth and moisture with every application! With 144 shades available, NYX round lipstick is is a velvet-textured lip cream that covers the lips with rich color that smooths and moisturise lips with each application. NYX Round Lipstick is NYX's the best selling lipstick and one of the top sellers for NYX Cosmetics.
Ingredients: Ceresin Wax, Polyethlene Wax, Candelilla wax, Microcrystalline Wax, Beeswax, Lanoline Oil, Isopropyl Myristate, Mineral Oils, Octyl Palmitate, BHA, Propyl Paraben, Mica, Titanium Dioxide, D&C Red No.A1 Lake, Pearl Powder, Iron Oxide.
I remember that there were many occasions when I bought lipsticks for my Mom but she didn't like the shades. Hence, I thought that it would be useful for you girls if I were to mention the color of the lipsticks that my Mom love most (or rather typical Mom(s) shades) from NYX. What is a typical Mom(s) lipstick shade? I say its a little more to the duller side with more browns and lesser/no glitters or shimmer. Nothing close to reds, pinks or beige.
For the benefit of you girls, I have also swatched NYX Round Lipstick in Thalia because B52 and Thalia are two of my Mom's favourites among my NYX Round Lipsticks.
Check out how similar NYX Round Lipstick in B52 and Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in Mademoiselle are!
My thoughts:
The color of Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in Mademoiselle is a little brighter and more orange-looking compared to NYX Round Lipstick in B52. In terms of texture, NYX Round Lipstick has a creamier texture. Both of them glide on well. But if I really had to choose between the two, I would say that Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick glides on better. Unlike NYX Round Lipstick which has a distinctive scent, Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick has a lighter scent, or rather the scent is more bearable I would say.
In terms of price, NYX Round Lipstick costed me approximately SGD$4 inclusive of shipping when I got them last year and I got my Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in Mademoiselle for SGD$44. The price difference is 11 times! Gasps!
Dupe: Yes/No
While the color isn't 100% similar, no lipsticks will be anyway trust me. I do think that NYX Round Lipstick in B52 can be considered as a good dupe for Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in Mademoiselle.
As for whether which lipstick do I prefer, its a tough fight because to me NYX is great value for money while for Chanel, its more of the branding and the perceived quality. I do like the fact that Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick is rather moisturizing though.
To sum it up, Patricia say, "For beauties on a budget or beginners, get NYX Round Lipstick in B52. For makeup enthusiasts with spare cash on hand, get the Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in Mademoiselle".
I hope you girls like this entry. Thanks for reading, till then!
Love,
Patricia
